Hi!

I'm Tarik, a writer from a large and loud Jamaican family (read: personal space? what's that?). After studying screenwriting at University of Miami, I relocated (read: saved myself) from Florida to Los Angeles where I began writing sketches and short films. I specialize in dramedy, and am drawn to telling the diverse and personal stories of protagonists who feel like outsiders, and who fight to find their place—as challenging, awkward, or surreal as it may feel to do so. I like to joke* that 'The Last Holiday' with Queen Latifah is my favorite movie. (*It is not a joke.)

And here’s my résumé!
